Ideas : The Dishwasher is a Boon For the Homemaker

Dishwashing is no longer the dirty chore today. This is because machines have taken over all the household and minimised drudgery for the homemakers leaving them free to utilise their time more fruitfully and perhaps creatively. Dishwashing is no longer a messy labour by hand. There are numerous models of dishwashers to suit every purse and cater to every whim of the user. There are free standing, full , compact, built in, table top, slim line, integrated or semi integrated dishwashers to name only a few. While all these models are to wash dishes, they differ in their performance depending on the way they are programmed to perform.

Where the number of programmes that a model can perform is more varied and complex, the machine is considered to more sophisticated in its performance. Washing treatment varies depending on whether the dishes are metal, glass or plastic. The washing can be set accordingly as delicate or tough-tough if the grease stains make it so. There are options like rinse aid, drying technology, filter, anti flooding or leak detection technology.

Most of the brands offer about seven to twelve settings but it is better to go for the energy efficient machines which is low on power consumption as well as water consumption. Another important aspect is the noise level when the machine is operating. One should look for the quiet machines which do not make their presence felt by the noise they make but rather by the efficient job of cleaning the most stubborn of stains. The noise of the machine should not drive us out of the kitchen! About 45 db noise level is permissible.

A machine which can handle any kind of dish with equal ease is the best. A machine that can handle both the tough and delicate with equal efficiency is what one should look for. Some dish washers are also fitted with a device to soften hard water for improving the washing quality. Sometimes hard water can damage the dishes or even leave stains on them. There are temperature settings too which can be adjusted. In order to monitor the use of water, there is also a half load option. This way the use of water is economically utilised. Generally about fourteen litres of water consumption is within permissible limits. It is best to go for a device which has an high rating.
